NL: van 15 naar 8, met stip On the Move!

Op 'the World Competitiveness Scoreboard 2007' is Nederland met stip gestegen van plaats 15 naar plaats 8, een prima prestatie.

Samen met 54 andere landen zijn we langs een meetlat gelegd van 323 criteria en uit die mix komen we, economisch competitief gezien, als 8e uit de bus. OK van de Europese landen laten we Luxemburg, Denemarken, Zwitserland en IJsland nog voor ons maar we doen het niet slecht, we zijn competitief en we zijn in beweging. Maar zijn wij, bij al dit succes, daarmee ook On the Move?
De Zwitserse IMD Business School te Lausanne houdt al sinds 1989 het World Competitiveness Scoreboard bij: "The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook (WCY) analyzes and ranks the ability of nations to create and maintain an environment that sustains the competitiveness of enterprises."Ze hanteren daarbij 323 criteria en kijken dan m.n. naar:

• => Economic Performance (79 criteria) Macro-economic evaluation of the domestic economy: Domestic Economy, International Trade, International Investment, Employment and Prices.
• => Government Efficiency (72 criteria) Extent to which government policies are conducive to competitiveness: Public Finance, Fiscal Policy, Institutional Framework, Business Legislation and Societal Framework.
• => Business Efficiency (71 criteria) Extent to which the national environmnent encourages enterprises to perform in an innovative, profi table and responsible manner: Productivity and Effi ciency, Labor Market, Finance, Management Practices and Attitudes and Values.
• => Infrastructure (101 criteria) Extent to which basic, technological, scientific and human resources meet the needs of business: Basic Infrastructure, Technological Infrastructure, Scientific Infrastructure, Health and Environment and Education.

Het resultaat voor dit jaar noemt het IMD ook wel:  The Big Shake Up, we worden allemaal opgeschud en The US, tot nu toe een redelijk permanent No. 1, wordt flink 'achter de broek' gezeten. Of wij het zijn, c.q. de EU is, die The US inhalen in het komende decennium, dat valt te betwijfelen. Wellicht is de kans groot dat The US en de EU dan op een bepaalde plaats ex aequo eindigen, maar een ander land zal nog voor 2050 zeker plaats 1 over hebben genomen en wellicht zelfs al voor 2017. Ook daarvoor heeft het IMD i.c. Prof. Stéphane Garelli een logische verklaring.

Maar goed voorlopig zijn wij op de goede weg, zijn wij hier in Nederland competitief gezien 'in beweging' en is de kans zelfs groot dat we in de komende paar jaar nog een enkele plaats stijgen. Wie weet geeft dat succes ons even tijd om ons ook op andere Wereldse Zaken te richten. Ons te richten op een nieuw initiatief bijvoorbeeld, een initiatief van de One Organization en van DATA.
